Victor Heights Neighborhood

When the Victor Heights tract was developed in 1887, advertisements taken out for lots in the now-defunct Los Angeles Herald offered a 10% discount off the cost of a home, from the price of the lot, for the first 10 customers (for built houses not less than $2,000). Prices are much different now (obviously). What’s not changed is the neighborhood’s authentic character.

In 1992, Victor Heights earned the nickname “The Forgotten Edge" due to the area's apparent obscurity to most Angelinos. When residents of the community called for assistance, even the police department could not find it. Victor Heights lives in obscurity no more; that's another thing that has changed. The neighborhood is now considered an up-and-comer as first-time home buyers flock to the area; one of the city's (currently) more affordable areas.

Within the enclave sits Everett Triangle Park, a tear drop-shaped open space and well-manicured patch of lawn maintained by the Department of Recreation and Parks. While there are no picnic tables, plenty of shade trees make it respectable place to spread out a blanket, relax, and enjoy views the downtown skyline. The same can be said of nearby Lilac Terrace Park, another modest pocket park in Victor Heights.

Newer condominium complexes and Bungalows live together in harmony on the hilly Victor Heights neighborhood. Home prices here are still relatively affordable compared to much of the region. The enclave is close to the hip areas of Echo Park, Silver Lake and Civic Center putting its residents within proximity great dining, shopping, and nightlife.
